Our Cattail Adventure…

Emily cutting up some of the stems… (Yes our kitchen is messy. This is called Real Life…)

This is what it looks like when you are cutting up cattails…

We found a recipe on youtube–very simple. Cook them in butter on medium high, turn lower, add salt and pepper, cook till soft.

William and Matthew were at first very freaked out and then fascinated.

We ate it all up pretty fast. 😀

And this is the third batch… we liked it so well we went and got more. 😀

So, there you have it. Perhaps this is one of the reasons I don’t fit well into any particular movement… one moment I’m having all these high-brow thoughts, and the next I’m running around outside cutting down cattails and cooking them. Ahem.

    • They do. 🙂 Um… somewhat like corn, somewhat like… um, not sure. Cattail I guess. 😀 The texture is similar to onion, except more firm.

    • I know! I learned about it awhile ago, but never got around to doing it till yesterday. 🙂 They actually have more edible/usable parts per acre than any other plant! (At least from what I remember)
