Daffodils by Starlight

IMG_3401

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o’er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,

IMG_3396

A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

IMG_3406

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line

IMG_3444

Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

IMG_3419

The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay,

IMG_3420

In such a jocund company:
I gazed–and gazed–but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:

IMG_3412

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye

IMG_3399

Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

William Wordsworth

P.S. If you ever want people to think you queer in the head, just take a pot of daffodils outside in the dark, put them on the back of a car, kneel down, and start taking pictures. Just thought I’d pass that along…. *grin*

  1. That is the sort of thing I would do! I always wanted to see flowers by starlight! I think it is lovely! Thank you so much for sharing!
